Day 8 - Feb 6. North Island. Tongariro Northern Circuit - a four day trek around the Ngauruhoe volcano and which includes the classic Tongariro Alpine Crossing, billed as 'the best one day walk in the world'. Debatable, but it was certainly spectacular. Another fine sunny day with a cool breeze. In fact we had perfect weather for the whole four days. Day 1 - Whakapapa village to Mangatepopo hut
