Day 2 - Jan 31. North Island. A visit to Trounson Kauri Park to see the Kauri trees and also a guided night walk - gloworms and a Kiwi. Clouded over during the afternoon and we had some late showers. Very warm and humid. No photos here as I got better ones of the trees the next day.
Day 3 - Feb 1. North Island. Brighter today, cloudy in the afternoon again but no rain. Heading north through Northland. Visited the Waipoua Kauri Forest. The mighty Kauri trees, second only to the Californian sequoias, once covered Northland but were nearly felled to extinction by the early 20th century.
